Spring 2024-2025
CRITICISM & VALUE was proposed and accepted as an embedded course, at the Silver Art Projects art residency, located at the World Trade Center.

This course, was available through New York University’s, Gallatin School of Individualized Study. Participating students practice writing as a method of thinking through and evoking ideas, as well as practice verbally describing artwork in real time and negotiating in person conversations with practicing artist in their studios.

Instruction for the course was delivered at the nonprofit art organization: Silver Art Projects, located at the World Trade Center. The embedding of this course at that location provides the participating students with the unique opportunity to conduct studio visits with guest artists every week, and the opportunity to publish an essay about one of the artists from the Silver Art Projects cohort. Additionally, by sharing strategies from my personal work and research, the enrolled students are required to participate in performative, in-class augmented video responses to the assigned readings, animating the visages of deceased writers, poets, and artists in discussion with their colleagues. These in class performances make for more intimate and spirited discussions throughout the semester.
